Administrative Committees

The Administrative Council is responsible for the general oversight of the local church. It reviews and evaluates the total mission and ministry of the church. Everyone within the church is accountable to this board. It is composed of the heads of all organizations within the church and may include members of the congregation "at large". It is the program agency of the church and is responsible for the coordination and approval of church ministries, many of which fall under various work areas which meet regularly. In our church these work areas include Outreach, Membership care and Evangelism, Worship and Christian Education. The Council meets every month.

Staff-Parish Relations is responsible for the paid personnel within the local church - both ordained and lay. This group is responsible for hiring, terminating and determining the salary of all paid personell. Paid personnel may include the pastor, the sextant, the organist, the choir director, or the church secretary. When a pastor is needed in a church, this group works with the District Superintendent to determine the pastoral needs of that church. Once a pastor has been appointed, this group meets with the pastor to work out any problems with the paid staff and to listen and help the pastor with any problems that he may bring before this group. All members of this committee are nominated and this committee usually meets at least four times a year.

Finance committee is responsible for raising the money needed for the ministries within the local church and the oversight of the money raised. This group will oversee how the money is handled and the spending of the money within a budget. All members of this committee are nominated.

Lay Leadership committee is responsible for nominating all unpaid personnel who serve on the various committees . All of the members of this group are nominated.

Board of Trustees is responsible for the physical building and property of the church. This board is recognized by the State as an entity which can enter into contracts. All members of this group must be nominated.
