About Farmingdale United Methodist Church
Farmingdale United Methodist Church is a strongly family-oriented church. We welcome members from around the world, with people from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe as active members of our community of Christian fellowship. Our facilities are handicapped accessible. Our regular worship service in our beautiful and peaceful Sanctuary is offered every Sunday morning at 9:30, with Sunday School classes for our young people right after the Children's Message part of the service. Coffee Hour is immediately afterward, downstairs in Fellowship Hall. We offer Nursery Care during the service in our Education building for all children under 3 years of age. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Communion is offered twice a month, on alternating Sundays. Our communion is open to anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their savior, or sincerely wants to come to know and love the Lord Jesus in their life.
We also offer a mid-week Alternative Service of Prayer and Praise, Wednesday evenings at 7:30. Both of these services have a strong emphasis on music as worship. We also offer a weekly 8 AM communion service. This is designed to be a quiet, contemplative, alternative before our regular 9:30 worship for people who may have other commitments on a particular Sunday or who just prefer a quieter time, but still want to celebrate communion with the Lord. ![]() Our worship takes many individual and group forms, from personal spiritual growth through regular church attendance and Bible study, to such church community activities as our annual series of Lenten study programs. Some programs, such as the Disciple bible study, combine both of these areas and result in strong personal growth that benefits the church community as well. Farmingdale United Methodist Church is truly a place where people become disciples of Christ, by witnessing to our faith in our community and the world. We do this by following His teachings through acts of compassion, worship, and devotion, and a dedication to justice, all under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Tree of LifeOur Farmingdale United Methodist Church Tree of Life is located in the South Transept of our sanctuary. The gold leaves on the tree and the stones at its base are given in memory of church members' loved ones, in honor of some important accomplishment or as a tribute to someone important in the life of Farmingdale UMC. Would you like to give a leaf or a stone in memory of someone special in your life? Please call the church office at 516-694-3424. We invite you to join us on our journey of faith, as we seek to grow in our individual and community relationship with God and with each other, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. |
