Education Ministry

We can never stop learning and growing in faith. That's why at Farmingdale United Methodist Church, there are a variety of ways for Christians of all ages to grow in Christ and in friendship with one another.

Weekly Church School
This program works with youth from pre-kindergarten through high school. Westrive to keep our educational material fun and interesting. We encourage thekids to participate in the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF program, the HeiferProject, our annual Christmas pageant, and an assortment of other constructiveactivities.

View a presentation of "The Parable of the Good Samaritan" here. See a poster from our 2008 Lenten Project - The Making of Pretzels. They have been used for centuries during Lent as a symbol of folded hands and arms. They remind us to pray.

Once a Month
We have a special children's service that familiarizes the youth with the adult service format as well as brings the kids together in a group setting. An assortment of music is shared, ranging from contemporary to traditional, making the service exciting and rich in audience participation.

Adult Classes
We often offer adult classes that address contemporary topics in six-week segments, generally held after church on Sundays. These classes are particularly great for busy adults who enjoy the small group setting.

DISCIPLE Program
The Disciple program is an approach to bible study that emphasizes disciplined reading and listening to Scripture. It results in biblically nourished persons committed to living as disciples. During the course of 34 weeks, DISCIPLE groups move through the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. All DISCIPLE Bible study participants will read more than 70 percent of the Bible. DISCIPLE groups consist of twelve members and a leader and meet weekly for 2 hours for a period of 34 weeks beginning in September. Each participant makes a commitment to daily preparation (30-45 minutes per day) and to weekly attendance with full participation in the group study session. DISCIPLE aims at transformation, not just information.

Seasonal Programs
These are offered during Advent and Lent to enhance the experience of the season by providing a place and time for youth and families and others to be together. Every Sunday evening in Lent, we begin with a potluck dinner followed by a choice of seminars that are age appropriate.
