Dear Friends,
Of the questions I get asked, the most frequently asked one is a "why" question: Why does God let bad things happen to good people? Why does God allow evil to exist? Why does God allow a loved one to get sick or die? Why is there suffering in the world? I have a suspicion that underneath these questions are questions about God's goodness and God's power: If God is so good, why does God let the innocent suffer? If God is so powerful, why does God let evil exist and persist? Why doesn't God do something about it?
There is a song by Andre Crouch that I enjoyed as a teen that I believe still rings true today: "Jesus is the answer for the world today. Above Him there is no other; Jesus is the way." All that God wants to tell us about Himself and His ways, God has done so ultimately through sending His Son, Jesus Christ. We will find the answers to life's hard questions when we yield to Christ.
As we continue to grow in faith, instead of asking "why God?" perhaps a far better question to ask is, "How can I express my hope and faith in You in these challenging times?"
With you in the Journey,
Pastor Yim
