DEDICATION OF EASTER BANNER: This Sunday, 4/23 we will dedicate the beautiful Easter banner "He is Risen" created by the United Methodist Women.

SPECIAL THANKS: to the choirs, soloists and altar flower arrangers and all who helped to make the Easter weekend celebration special!

OF MEN & MOTORCYLES: Sun. 4/23 11:15am, the UMM will sponsor an event to welcome the arrival of our own Rodger Lee and members of the Lighthouse Harley Chapter of the L.I. Motorcycle Club to our church for a special blessing of the riders. Each club member will contribute to a special fund that will then be donated to UMM for UMCOR Advance Specials. Please plan to join us for refreshments and greeting the riders.

FOOD DRIVE: Sun. 4/23 will be the last day to contribute to the UMM Spring Food Drive for St. Killian's Food Pantry.

HEY KIDS! Hope you had a great Easter. Please remember to bring in your Heifer arks. See you next Sunday!

UPCOMING YOUTH EVENTS:

  • Progressive Dinner: Sunday, 4/23 - meet at Church at 5:00pm.
  • Youth Group Lock-In: Saturday, 5/13 (beginning at 4:00pm) - Sunday, 5/14. The theme is "Friends".

SUMMER CAMP: The UMC offers wonderful outdoor experiences for children and adults in three beautiful camp settings. Camperships are available to qualified applicants. Letters must be received by April 23rd. For further info., please see Shanna Wurth.

ANNUAL CROPWALK: Sun. 4/30 at Marjorie Post Park. Pick up your Sponsor Sheets from Peggy Tomko during Coffee Hour in Fellowship Hall.

UMW "LOVEABLE LADIES LUNCHEON" Sat. 4/29 12:00-2:00pm. Invite a friend, neighbor, relative, or co-worker who has brought joy into your life to share a meal, fun and fellowship with a room full of "loveable ladies". For tickets, see Joyce Aponte, or any UMW Circle Chairperson. Cost: $10.00. There will be door prizes.

ANNUAL CHURCH SPRING CLEANING: Sat., May 20th. We are looking for all church members to bring their pails and sponges and help clean our Church, Thrift Shop, and Church School. Here is our chance to clean out the clutter, and put a shine on our Church. The UMM will be providing a light lunch for all workers. A sign-up sheet will be posted in the beginning of May.

CONFIRMATION STUDENTS: Mark your calendars and join us on Sunday, May 21st for a barbecue at the Parsonage.

IN SYMPATHY: We extend deep sympathy to the family of Rev. John Dass, who passed away on 4/17/06. He was retired Methodist minister from India and has been a faithful member in our Church. LENTEN COIN FOLDERS: If you have not yet returned your coin folders, please either bring them to Church and put in the offering plate or drop them at the Church Office. Envelopes are available at the Welcome Center. Thank you.

SENIOR APPRECIATION DAY: Good Samaritan Hospital will be hosting Senior Appreciation Day on 4/26 9:00am-1:00pm. This year's event will be "Senior Sense-Ability: Aging and the Five Senses". The event will offer glaucoma, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings, in addition to guest speakers and other informative tables related to the five senses. L.I. EAST DISTRICT CONFERENCE: Sat. April 29th (9am-12 noon) at the Bible Korean UMC in Dix Hills, 1201 Straight Path, Dix Hills. Registration starts at 8:30am.

A JOURNEY WITH CHRIST - WALK TO EMMAUS: is a 3-day experience held at Montfort Retreat Center in Bay Shore. It is designed to strengthen and renew our faith, and to experience the love and grace of God on a deeper level. The Men's weekend is May 4-7 and the Women's weekend is May 18-21. THE HUGH "SKIP" NEWMAN SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE is currently accepting applications for the 2006 Skip Newman Scholarship. Applications are available in the Church Office and must be submitted by May 14th. If you wish to make a donation to the scholarship fund, please submit a check to the Church designating it for the Newman Scholarship Fund.
