The Messenger

June 18, 2006

Dear Friends:
Last week at the 207th New York Annual Conference of our denomination at Hofstra University, our Conference adopted a new Conference-wide Vision statement to guide all of our mission and ministry work together: "The New York Annual Conference, through the grace of God, embodies a beloved community of hope, building up a healthy Body of Christ, with the heart-warmed United Methodists in mission for the transformation of the world." In the months ahead, we will explore ways to make this vision a reality in each local church, district and our conference as we continue in our mission to make disciples for Jesus Christ.
As the pastoral appointments are annual and fixed at the Annual Conference, it is my joy to announce that I am appointed to continue with you at Farmingdale United Methodist Church, proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ, building up the body of Christ together in the coming year.
Let us continue in faithfulness to the Lord through the summer months, tending to our spiritual and physical renewal. This Sunday, we will give thanks and honor fathers among us. Bring your family and join us in worship!
With you on the journey
Pastor Julia YH Yim

BREAD FOR THE WORLD: On Sunday, June 18th, during Coffee Hour, our church family will hold its annual "Bread for the World Offering of Letters" written to our members of Congress supporting legislation important to hungry people. You can choose to do a handwritten letter or request a computer-generated one by seeing Lisa or Jeff James or Kathy Bush. "One Spirit. One Will. Zero Poverty".

HEY KIDS: this Sunday we will be doing activities outside, so don't forget to wear comfortable clothes. Hope to see you there!

LOOKING FOR A THOUGHTFUL FATHER'S DAY CARD? How about one from Church World Service that gives Tools and Blankets of Hope to people in need around the world? They are $5 each and are available from Jeff James after this coming Sunday's Father's Day service.

THANK YOU: to everyone who helped make last Sunday's children's service so special. It was inspiring! Jenn Lee

THANK YOU: to everyone who contributed to the children's Lenten project: Heifer International. We raised $1,435 and were able to purchase the following animals: 1 heifer, 1 water buffalo, 1 llama, 2 pigs, 1 trio of rabbits, 3 flocks of chicks, 2 flocks of geese, 1 flock of ducks and 2 bee colonies.
