DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME: begins this Sunday, March 11th. Remember to turn your clocks ahead 1 hour!

CALLING ALL CHERUBS: We will be singing in church this Sunday. Please be at church by 9:00am to practice. We will sing the song "Sing Alleluia".

HEY KIDS! There is a children's worship service this Sunday, and we will be making pretzels after the service.

BISHOP'S LUNCHEON 2007: All United Methodist Men are invited to the Annual Bishop's Luncheon on Sat., March 17th, 12 noon, at White Plains Memorial UMC. Guest speakers will be Bishop Jeremiah J. Park and our District Superintendent Dr. Allen Pinckney, Jr. Please come and meet men from throughout the New York Annual Conference and join us for this important program. Please contact Jeff James for more information.

TO ALL UMW MEMBERS: UMW General meeting scheduled for Tues., Mar. 13th has been cancelled. The Executive Board will meet Tues., Mar. 20th, 7pm in the UMW Board Room. This meeting is quite important, and every circle should be represented, if possible.

THRIFT SHOP: is in need of a computer and printer, preferable with Excel & Microsoft Word already installed. If you have one you are not using, please see Laurie Everhart. Thank you.

QUINIPET RETREAT: Reservations taken Sun. 3/11 & 3/18, after the 9:30 worship service and before the Potluck Dinner. The retreat is Fri. 7/20 - Sun. 7/22. See Rob Schozer for details.

BOOKS! BOOKS! BOOKS! The Sunday School has adopted a kindergarten class in Gulfport, Mississippi that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. We are collecting new or like-new picture books, preferably soft cover, for their classroom library. Monetary donations also accepted (drop off either in Church Office or with Jenn Lee). Please leave books in a box in the So. Transept. If you have any questions, please contact Jenn Lee. Thank you.


SUNDAY NIGHT 2007 LENTEN PROGRAMS
5:00PM - Covered Dish Supper
6:00PM - Praise led by Worship Band & Lenten Program
Plan ahead and join us Sunday evenings during Lent at 5:00pm for a potluck dinner. Following the dinner, we have several program options from which to choose:
  • a 6-week DVD study on "If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat" by John Ortberg
  • Three 2-week programs:
  1. Discussion on How the Bible Came to Be - The Early Church and the Formation of the Bible, The Gospels - The Chosen & the Lost;
  2. Discussion on Henri Nouwen's Out of Solitude
  3. Discussion based on the recent movie, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," from The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis.

There will be programs for Children & Youth. ALL ARE WELCOME!

PRAYER VIGIL FOR NEW PRAISE SERVICE on Saturday, 3/24/07: We believe that God chooses to work through people who trust in Him & pray. As we step out in faith to believe God for greater things and prepare to offer an additional Praise Service for the community, you are invited to sign up to PRAY wherever you are in the time slot you choose. The sign up sheet for the Prayer Vigil (8AM-8PM) on Saturday, 3/24 will be available starting this Sunday. For more information, contact Shanna Wurth & Pat DiMassi.

L.I. COUNCIL OF CHURCHES CONVOCATION: "Working Together Across Divisions" takes place Sat. March 24th, 9:00am to 12:30pm at First Baptist Church, 1018 Northville Turnpike, Riverhead. Bishop Jeremiah Park will be one of the keynote speakers. The focus will be how churches can work cooperatively in mission and ministry across divisions of faith, denomination, race, resources and class. For further info, contact Rev. WORKSHOP FOR LAITY: The New York Annual Conference Board of Church & Society is sponsoring a workshop for laity on Sun. March 25th, 2:00-4:30pm at Hicksville UMC. The goal is to provide laity with basic education on the social principles of the United Methodist Church and to train persons who can themselves take this knowledge back to educate wider circles of United Methodists in our districts and local churches. Featured presenter is Rev. Clayton Childers, Program Director, Annual Conference Relations. For further information, contact Rev. Jeff Wells (516) 541-7008.

UPCOMING RETREAT FOR LAITY: All laity are invited to attend a special retreat featuring Rev. Terry Teykl, a much sought after dynamic speaker and seminar leader, on Fri., Mar. 30th & Sat. Mar. 31st at Passionist Retreat Center, Bronx, NY. The topic is Acts 29 "Prayer Encounter" (a blend of worship, teaching, ministry, prayer & fellowship). If you have a desire to grow more in the area of prayer, this retreat might be of interest to you. The cost is $75 both days, $55 Saturday only. Please call the Church Office for further info.
