The Messenger

January 6, 2008

Dear Friends,
There is a tiny hymn written by Bishop Christopher Wordsworth whose words are wisdom for any age or generation:

Lord, be Thy word my rule, Thy promises my hope,
In it may I rejoice; Thy providence my guard
Thy glory be my aim Thine arms my strong support
Thy holy will my choice; Thyself my great reward

As I pray the words of this hymn, I find that in eight short lines all that I hope for in life:
Life's best aim – the glory of God; Life's best choice – the will of God;
Life's best hope – the promises of God; Life's best guard – the providence of God;
Life's best support – the strong arm of God; Life's supreme reward – God Himself.

May the New Year will be filled with growth in wisdom, faith, hope and love as we follow Christ our Lord and serve His purpose together in 2008!

With great hope,
Pastor Julia YH Yim
