Homebound Visitiations and Communion Delivery Farmingdale United Methodist Church has a special concern for visiting the members of our congregation who are homebound due to short-term hospitalizations or long-term health problems, as well as those who are confined by age and infirmity to nursing homes. Every week a faithful group of volunteers visits those who are in need. Delivering communion to those who are homebound is a service of FUMC sponsored by the United Methodist Men. On the third Sunday of each month we meet at 8 AM for communion service in our sanctuary. After communion we have breakfast and then it's off to visit folks who can't make it to church due to health issues. We bring them communion and a cheerful visit along with news of the church. These visits usually last about 45 minutes and we are back to church just as the regular service is ending. While this outreach service is sponsored by the United Methodist Men it is by no means limited to men. Many women join us and of late we are very pleased to have several high-school-age youth join us in this service. Several of our young married couples bring their children to visit these homebound individuals as well. It is truly an intergenerational and wonderfully uplifting event. If you have a loved one who is homebound and would like us to bring them communion or a cheerful visit, please call the church office at 516-694-3424 with the details. |
