FUMC Soup Kitchen Serves Long Island Needy

The Farmingdale United Methodist Church began serving those in need in September of 2003. Working with volunteers from the community and members of Farmingdale United Methodist Church, we to serve a free hot meal every Sunday afternoon in our church fellowship hall.
We are a non-profit group and affiliated with Long Island Cares, the big food bank. Although our budget is small, we are proud to spread the love of Christ to our growing clientele. We welcome your contributions and assistance.
You and your organization can help in many ways:
- Volunteer a Sunday afternoon individually or as a group of four or more. Contact the church at (516) 694-3424.
- Run a food drive in your organization. Contact Jim Farrell at jfarrell@unclewallys.com.
- Contribute cash to buy food or supplies.
- Donate equipment or services. We need many things, including
* A full-sized freezer
* A new microwave oven
* Sharp knives
* A large Cuisinart
* Professional cleaning service quarterly.
As we grow, we hope to offer other services to our guests. But for now, we will serve them soup and a sandwich some weeks and other weeks a full meal, and perhaps a take-home bag of bagels, fruit or other necessities.
