"She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness."

Proverbs 31:26

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

UMW is an international community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

FUMW is open to all women who seek to turn faith, hope and love into action. We are committed to growing in Christian faith through study of the Bible and prayer, caring and supporting one another, and working for justice through service and advocacy. Our mission involves witnessing, sharing and refusing to turn away when the tears of God are being shed over the suffering of His creations.

We meet several times a year for mission projects, inspiring programs and holiday celebrations. We also meet in smaller groups throughout the year and women may join any or all of our three circles:

  • Gold Circle – a group of caring women dedicated to the purpose of the UMW and to church service. The Circle meets regularly for study, prayer and lunch fellowship.

  • Martha/Mary Circle – their emphasis is on service to the church and to the community. This circle remains connected through email and texts and meets as needed to accomplish tasks for service projects.

  • Paisley Circle - also connects through social media and meets bimonthly for prayer, program preparation, service projects and support.

FUMW has participated in international social ministry, provided health and school kits for Church World Service, collected and delivered gifts to the local schools, community and an upstate children’s home, donated teddy bears to the Fire Department for use with traumatized children, and supported church ventures. For United Methodist Women, faith and action go hand in hand. As we study and work together, we make our faith come alive - and we make a difference!
